Planning Goa for Christmas or New Year 2026? Book the car before the hotel. The fortnight from around 20 December to 3 January is the busiest booking window of the year for self drive cars, and the popular models go first. Here is what it looks like from our side of the counter, and how to get the car you want.

For 20 December to 2 January, send your dates by mid November. Ask for a category (hatchback, automatic, 7 seater) rather than one exact car. Leave the car at the hotel on New Year's Eve and take a cab. Cancellation is free with 24 hours' notice.
What Does the Calendar Look Like in 2026?
Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday and New Year's Eve on a Thursday. That gives two long weekends back to back, and the crowd that usually spreads across two weeks tends to pile into the same ten days. Expect the rush to start around Friday 18 December and ease off after Monday 4 January, with much of the road traffic coming in from Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The week before Christmas, roughly 12 to 17 December, is the quiet window. The beaches are open, the weather is lovely and the roads are still moving. If your dates are flexible, that is the week.
When Should I Book a Car for Christmas Week in Goa?
For 20 December to 2 January: by mid November, ideally earlier. For Christmas week alone: by the end of November. For the first half of December: a couple of weeks ahead is usually enough. Thars, the Innova Crysta and Hycross, and anything automatic go first, and the MINI Cooper tends to go early too. Booking early locks in the car; the rate for your dates is confirmed on the call, and we do not quote one price on the phone and another at handover, at any time of year.
A small thing that helps: ask for a category rather than one specific car. "An automatic hatchback" or "a 7 seater for six people" is much easier to say yes to on 30 December than "the red Swift".
What Is Driving Like That Fortnight?
Slower. The Calangute to Baga road crawls on the evening of the 31st for a distance you could walk in the same time. Panjim on Christmas night is one long procession of cars looking at the lights. The bridges over the Mandovi and the Zuari back up on the Saturdays. None of it is dangerous; it is just slow, and it is worth planning your days so you are not crossing the state at 6 pm. New Year's Eve, Specifically
Police run drink driving checks on the roads out of Baga, Anjuna and Vagator on the night of the 31st, with breath tests at the checkpoints. We would rather you drove the car to the party, left it there, and took a taxi back. If you want to skip the whole problem, book a car with a driver for that one night and pick your self drive car up from the hotel car park in the morning.
The Pickup That Saves Your First Day
Airport queues at Mopa and Dabolim around 23 and 24 December are among the longest of the year, and the taxi counters feel it. A self drive car waiting at arrivals means you walk past all of that. Share your flight number when you book and we time the handover to your landing, late night and early morning flights included. Delivery is free at both airports. Cancelling or Changing Dates
There is no cancellation charge with 24 hours' notice. Tell us as early as you can, because a car released a week out goes to the next person asking for it.
