Goa has two airports, and they sit at opposite ends of the state. Dabolim is in South Goa near Vasco; Manohar International Airport at Mopa is in the far north, in Pernem. Which one you land at changes how long the drive to your hotel takes, which beaches are close, and how much a car helps on day one. Here is how each works if you are picking up a self drive car.
First, check your ticket
Airlines list both airports as "Goa". The code tells you which one: GOX is Mopa, GOI is Dabolim. Share the code and your flight number when you book, and the car is waiting at the right one.
Mopa Airport (GOX) at a Glance
Mopa is the newer airport, up in Pernem taluka in North Goa. The northern beaches are the closest: Arambol, Morjim, Ashwem and Mandrem are a short drive. Calangute and Baga are roughly 45 minutes to an hour away, depending on traffic. South Goa is a long way from here, so if your hotel is in Colva or Palolem, plan for a long first drive or check whether a Dabolim flight works better.
A car waiting at Mopa arrivals saves you the taxi queue and lets you stop for lunch on the way down the coast instead of heading straight to the hotel.

Dabolim Airport (GOI) at a Glance
Dabolim is the older airport, near Vasco da Gama in South Goa. It is convenient for the South Goa beaches: Colva, Benaulim, Majorda, Utorda and Betalbatim are all close, and Bogmalo beach is right next door. The North Goa beach belt is roughly an hour away depending on traffic, and longer in the evening rush in peak season.

Which Airport Suits Your Stay
| You are staying in | Closer airport | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim, Ashwem | Mopa (GOX) | A short drive. Dabolim means crossing most of the state. |
| Anjuna, Vagator, Assagao | Mopa (GOX) | Usually the easier landing for these areas. |
| Calangute, Baga, Candolim | Either | Mopa is roughly 45 minutes to an hour away, Dabolim roughly an hour, both depending on traffic. |
| Panjim, Porvorim | Either | Both work. Pick the flight time that suits you. |
| Colva, Benaulim, Majorda, Varca | Dabolim (GOI) | A short drive. Mopa means a long first drive south. |
| Palolem, Agonda | Dabolim (GOI) | Still a fair drive, but far shorter than from Mopa. |
Every time here is approximate. Goa traffic changes a lot by season and by the hour, so allow extra time in December and around evening check in.
How Car Handover Works at Either Airport
- Book with your flight number and the airport code. A call or WhatsApp to 70289 55080 is enough.
- Call us when you land and have your bags. We hand the car over at arrivals, usually within 30 minutes of your call.
- Show your documents: a valid driving licence and one government photo ID, such as Aadhaar, PAN or passport. The refundable deposit is taken at handover.
- Check the car with us: a quick walk round, a photo of the fuel gauge, and you are on your way.
Pickup and drop are free at both Mopa and Dabolim, so you can also land at one airport and fly out from the other. Tell us when you book.
Which Car to Ask For
Luggage decides this more than anything. A couple with two cabin bags will be fine in a Swift or i20. A family of four with large suitcases needs a Creta, Venue or a sedan, and five or more people with bags should book a 7 seater such as an Ertiga, Innova Crysta or Innova Hycross. If you are landing late after a long flight, an automatic makes the first drive easier; we have automatic Swift, Creta, Venue and Thar.
