Monthly Car Rental in Goa

A monthly rental suits people who are in Goa for longer than a holiday: remote workers renting a house in a Bardez village, families spending the season near Candolim or Colva, retired couples here for the winter, and Goans home for a few weeks who would rather not borrow a car. You agree the start date and a rough end date on the call, the car is brought to your stay, and from then on it is your car until you hand it back.

Which Car Should I Rent for a Month?

After the first week you stop noticing the car and start noticing the fuel, the parking and the driving seat, so pick the car you can live with rather than the one for the photos.

• One or two people in a village house: a Swift, i20, Baleno or Glanza. Light on fuel and easy to park in a narrow lane. The Swift and i20 also come as automatics.
• Driving to work every day: an automatic. Morning traffic through Porvorim and Mapusa is stop and start, and the automatic cars take the strain out of it.
• Long runs to South Goa, or a family of four: a Creta or Venue, for the ride height and the boot.
• Five or more of you: an Ertiga or Carens. Check the gate of the house first: many village gates take a Creta but not a bigger car.
• The Thar: great for a week, firm for a month. Some guests take a Thar for the beach weeks and swap to a hatchback for the working weeks.

Can I Swap or Extend the Car During the Month?

Yes to both. Tell us a few days before the planned return and we extend the same car if it is free, or swap it for another at your stay. A swap also works when your needs change: friends arriving for a week, a move from the north to the south of the state, or a switch from manual to automatic. The rate for the new car and dates is confirmed before the swap.

What Do I Need to Rent a Car for a Month?

The same as for a day: a valid, full driving licence (the card, or the DigiLocker or mParivahan copy), one government photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN or passport) and the refundable deposit at handover. Every driver must be 21 or older. A second driver is fine as long as we see their licence at handover before they drive. What If the Car Needs Attention?

Call the 24 x 7 help line. A puncture, a warning light or a dent from someone else's bumper in a market car park: we sort it, and a replacement car is arranged where one is available, so you are not left without a car. Routine servicing is scheduled around you, by swapping the car at your door rather than asking you to bring it in.

Can I Take the Car Out of Goa?

No. The tourist permit covers Goa only, so a weekend in Gokarna, Hampi or Sindhudurg is not possible in a Goa rental car. Inside Goa there is no kilometre limit, however much you drive over the month.

When to Book a Long Stay Car

For a stay that starts between November and February, book once your dates are fixed, and earlier still if your month includes Christmas and New Year week, when the automatics and the 7 seaters go first.
